Each capsule contains: Carbocisteine, PP 500 mg.
Mucolytic.
Pharmacology: Carbocisteine is a new mucosolvent for the management of cough and other disorder of the respiratory passages associated with the production of excessive and tenacious bronchial secretions. It also affects bronchial secretion by increasing its volume, reducing its viscosity, decreasing the aggregation tendencies of mucopolysaccharides and breaking the disulfides bonds of the mucous peptide chains. In addition, Carbocisteine evidently affects the intracellular synthesis of the mucins by activating sualyl transferase enzymes. It was found that the volume of mucous increased, the pourability of mucus improved; and the patients subjective well being improved considerably faster by the effect of treatment with Carbocisteine. Its unique action makes Carbocisteine a superior mucofluidifying agent. It provides clinical improvement of cough four days ahead of Bromhexine. It increases ventilatory volumes and helps resolve the inflammatory processes of the bronchial mucous membrane. Carbocisteine is very safe. There is no contraindication reported, but in some patients it may inhibit stomach irritation as side effect.
